RIALTO AIRPORT: Move to San Bernardino advances or miss-use of Water Sale Money

Below you will find a story from the Press Enterprise Newspaper. The articles purpose is to highlight the work moving forward at the San Bernardino Airport with the closing of the Rialto Airport. We were told that the $30 Million the city would secure by selling off our water for 30 years and raising our rates over four years by more than 100% was going to go to allow the city to afford the types of upgrades necessary when your developing land where there isn’t drainage, adequate streets for expected traffic along with street lights and signals. Reading below at first sight you think your reading about the continued relocation of the airport to move forward with its closure, but that’s not the case to those of us who still fight against this evil deal.

The following was never made clear to the public:

  1. Anything about the bulk of land sales going to the San Bernardino Airport for relocation costs.
  2. That now that the land is worthless and not desired by anyone, the city made another bad deal on our behalf to give away the supposed Capital Development money obtained from the bad water deal.

What makes the water deal and now the Airport Closure stink are:

  1. Closing of the Airport puts our own Helicopter program in jeopardy. We will have to take our own helicopter to another Airport creating an unnecessary delay in response time (which newspaper article will we find tells us where our helicopter will be based since the city hates telling the community what they are doing).
  2. $30 Million isn’t allot of money when it comes to large development. If a BULK of the money must go to San Bernardino what money is left for all the BUSINESS they think they can attract to come to RIALTO?
  3. Why wont the city tell us all the people connected to the city who will make millions at Rialto Rate Payers Expense.
  4. The statement from Councilman and Mayor Candidate ED SCOTT that the settlement money from the perchlorate cases wont be enough to repay Rialto businesses who paid perchlorate fees for years right along with Rialto residents. So Ed Scott wants us to promote him to Mayor and trust him with the responsibility of attracting new business to the city. He has his hands super dirty in being on the committee that hired failed Superior for graffiti removal services, being a council member that still likes and wants American Water as the servicer of Rialto’s failed water deal and calls the police and makes false accusations against Rialto Residents because he doesn’t like what they say.
  5. Target, Super Wal-Mart and In & Out are the three projects on tap for the $30 million, if we have to give most of that money to San Bernardino how will any of these projects happen?

Read the article below, then email your council members and city administrator and ask them to finally be honest with us!!!!!

Little activity goes on at Rialto Airport these days. The last few tenants could find a new home at San Bernardino International Airport.

Seven years after an act of Congress ordered Rialto Municipal Airport closed, the effort to shift tenants to San Bernardino International Airport took a small step on Wednesday, Sept. 12.

The San Bernardino International Airport Authority awarded contracts worth up to $1.8 million combined for the design of hangars that will serve private pilots and the San Bernardino County sheriff’s aviation operation.

TR Design Group, a Riverside-based company that built a city call center at Riverside Municipal Airport as well as structures near March Air Reserve Base, was awarded up to $902,720 to develop plans, including architectural and engineering, for the sheriff’s hangar.

An $868,500 contract went to Parsons Brinckerhoff Inc. for design work and oversight of the eventual construction of amenities for private pilots and their planes that would be relocated from Rialto to San Bernardino’s 32-acre site.

Funding will come from the authority’s related Inland Valley Development Agency. The agency has so far received approval from the state’s Department of Finance to use bond revenue for the new hangars and amenities. State law dissolved redevelopment agencies earlier this year and forced them to seek approval from the finance department when they want to spend property tax revenue on unfinished redevelopment projects.

The IVDA has estimated it could cost $9.55 million to build the sheriff’s hangar, according to the list of financial obligations approved by the state. The general aviation improvements could cost nearly $7 million.

In 2005, Congress made the rare move to close Rialto Airport because the city — the airport’s owner — wanted to see the land developed with homes, retail and other improvements. A large portion of the money earned from selling the land was supposed to have gone to the San Bernardino airport to create space for the tenants forced to move. But the economy soured, land values plummeted, and no land was sold or developed. Tenants still pay rent month-to-month at Rialto Airport, where weeds are visible sprouting from the runway.

Recently, the city of Rialto approved a complicated deal to contract out its water management in order to earn money to reimburse San Bernardino airport for a portion of the costs.

Rialto Airport, which has been further tangled in uncertainty because of the dissolution of the city’s redevelopment agency, is expected to close by 2014, said Chad Merrill, project manager for the IVDA and San Bernardino airport.

Council Set to Give Away 15,000 to a PR Firm TONIGHT

Below read the agenda discription of the purchase order increase for social media and advertising of the Newest Tax to hit the city of Rialto. Looks like somone worked a back room deal to get more money after agreeing to STEAL $128,500 for a couple months worth of work.

There is a reason the city is always looking for new revenue sources because they sell away our money thousands of dollars at a time. Meeting starts at 6pm we need to go down and ring some ears remeber its a election year………….

**TAB 5 — Request City Council to increase Purchase Order amount from $15,000 to
$143,500 for Bustamante and Associates LLC for the Development and
Implementation of Community Outreach Sources. **

A call into council looks like MAYOR canidate Deborah Robertson is against this action we must support her!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Coffee With The Chief 9-11-12

Come out and learn whats up within the police department and also have the ability to ask questions of the city’s top law enforcement official.

Great opportunity to hear others issues and air out your own. Sometimes we have questions but were not sure if they sound dumb (there is no dumb question) or we may not want to speak up in a large crowd.

That is whats awesome about this monthly event. The chief actually comes out and in an intimate setting informs the community on what his department has been doing and how they are planning to attack the different types of crime in Rialto.

Have you ever wondered who is responsible for Graffiti? How to better protect yourself from becoming a victim of property crime? These are just a few of the many questions that can be answered at this event.

Chief Farrar brings with him different people from the department that handle different issues. People he has brought include; Captain Randy Deanda, Volunteer coordinator Judy Roberts and his administrative assistant.

Its time for the community to become more involved in Rialto. We have seen the numbers of people coming out to this event grow every month, so if you have the time we would love to see you there and you will enjoy the time.

We have included the flyer with a map of where the Cocos restaurant is.

If you can’t make it but would like to have your questions answered reply here or email them to Rialtonw@aol.com we will ask the question and post the answer in our re-cap of the event.

Also if you have kids feel free to bring them, I will have my three-year old with me and I will be bringing extra crayons, color sheets and other things to keep the kids busy 🙂

“SPOTLIGHT” On Bernice Reveles

Today we have a “SPOTLIGHT” on an up and coming musician that is ready to blow up the music charts with her passion and beautiful voice.
I was so impressed by her and how this interview turned out. Atthe end you will find out how you can get a FREE download of her latest song. So check out the “SPOTLIGHT” and let us know what you think!!!!!!!
RIALTO NOW – When and why did you start playing?
BERNICE – I started playing guitar when I was 14 years old. I had been playing piano here and there, but guitar had always intrigued me. Just being able to put a couple of chords together and adding some lyrics is just amazing to me… AND it’s way more convenient than a piano!
RIALTO NOW – Is there a moment that you can remember that drove you to sing?
BERNICE – When did it click that you liked singing? – My Aunt Lorena. She use to sing around the LA area for years when she was young. I remember at one New Years Eve family party, when I was 5, she was singing with a trio that plays Spanish music and I just stood there in complete AWE. I saw how everyone was so focused on her and how confident she was. Since then, I knew I wanted to be a singer.
RIALTO NOW – Tell us a little about yourself.
BERNICE – I’m 18 years old. Recent graduate from A.B. Miller High and currently attending Mt. SAC. I’m a singer-songwriter from Fontana, CA. I’ve lived around the country…literally. I lived in Texas, South Carolina but born and raised in Southern California and I’m a complete optimist about life.

Check out her single “BABY I LIKE YOU” will be releasing on 9/4/12 as a free download at http://www.Soundcloud.com/bernicereveles

RIALTO NOW – What role does FAMILY play in your music?
BERNICE – They play a HUGE role in my music! Without their love, support and wisdom I’d be totally lost. They’re my soul and I’m never without them.
RIALTO NOW – Which instruments do you play?
BERNICE – I play guitar and piano. My guitar is always with me on stage. I plan on learning drums next…if my brother is willing to teach me haha!
RIALTO NOW – What other producers, songwriters and/or artists do you see as your primary inspirations?
BERNICE – Definitely Alanis Morissette and Taylor Swift. I just love how they don’t care what people say or think of them. They just do their thing with confidence and I idolize them for that fact.
RIALTO NOW – What was it like to be signed with Moe Tan Records?
BERNICE – It was scary, exciting and amazing all at the same time! They’re just genuinely good people. Their positive vibes and happiness just make me feel like I’m family. I’m just so excited to see what is to come for all of us in the future!
RIALTO NOW – What was your favorite performance so far? What made it so special?
BERNICE – It was the Thai Festival on Hollywood Blvd in April 2011. All my closest friends and family were there to cheer me on. They all wore my “Baby, I Like You” T-shirts and promoted me. The crowd was wild and just awesome. It was overall an amazing day, filled with amazing memories.
RIALTO NOW – If someone told you right now to pick one venue and artist to sing/play with what would that be?
BERNICE – Hands down the Sala Apolo in Barcelona, Spain with Taylor Swift!
RIALTO NOW – What is the first song ever sung? Do you have secret craving? fave food?
BERNICE – I was 3 or 4 and I sang Selena’s Bidi Bidi Bom Bom to my family. – Forever will be craving Hot Cheetohs and raspberry iced tea. – PIZZA and SUSHI!
RIALTO NOW – What is your favorite movie?
BERNICE – I have a couple. It’s too hard to choose! But top tree are; The Notebook, (500) Days Of Summer and Pretty In Pink.
RIALTO NOW – Do you have any pets? Dog person or cat?
BERNICE – I’m a dog person. My grandma has a dog, that I like to call mine as well. His name’s Yogi and he’s a North American husky.
RIALTO NOW – What was your first job?
BERNICE – Well, I’m currently experiencing my first job. I volunteer at my mom’s job that is a non-profit organization that service, support and advocacy for individuals with developmental disabilities and their families.
RIALTO NOW – Do you have any loves, other then music?
BERNICE – I have a love for traveling and photography. One day I want to be able to travel to different parts of the world, try different things and take risks!
RIALTO NOW – What do you like to do for fun outside of working on music?
BERNICE – Spending time with my family and friends, hit Huntington Beach, go to concerts/shows  and just cruise and travel around Southern California.
RIALTO NOW – How do you describe your music to people?
BERNICE – To make it easier for people to understand I like to say it’s like if Taylor Swift and Katy Perry had a baby! haha! I guess it would be considered “pop” music but with my own little twist into it. I am always open for new things!
RIALTO NOW – How often and for how long do you practice?
BERNICE – I practice everyday. You’ll usually catch me playing guitar or writing a song.
RIALTO NOW – Do you have an charities or causes that are close to your heart?
BERNICE – I have two that are close to my heart. One is, To Write Love On Her Arms. They are a cause that spreads awareness for depression, self-harm and suicide. My grandpa took his life away in 2009 and we’ve been following them ever since. They’re very inspirational & have helped us to cope with his lost. The second is the Tourettes Syndrome Association. My little brother Jay was diagnosed with Tourettes 2 years ago and it’s been hard on everyone…but for him, I can only imagine. He’s such an inspiration and a strong kid. He lives everyday normally and doesn’t let it stop him. I love that kid!
