Rialto Fails To Get Community Input on New Park Improvements

There is nothing worse than not being included. This is the same theme that is constantly brought up in this community and it seems like we have yet another example.

From the message below the people living in the 1 mile radius from Frisbie Park were not included in the survey that asked residents what they would like to see in their neighborhood park. Now the right thing to do would be to stop the progress and put the survey back out to get the communities real opinions right? Well according to the message below that doesn’t seem to be what is going to happen unless the community floods the city council chambers tonight.

Why is it that we have to hold our elected leaders hands with every decision that requires just a little common sense?

City Administrator Mike Story said this about the Park Project:

“Survey was done. It was sent out to a large radius of both park projects. There was also a community meeting to get input. Tonight is to review the plans that were prepared with input from community and sub committee.”

“That is incorrect. Perry in community services has the list of all the people who survey was mailed to. The survey was also available on line.”

This Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at 6:30p.m. there will be a city Council meeting in the City of Rialto at 150 S. Palm Ave, Rialto, CA 92376.  They will be talking about the Frisbie Park renovation project.

Frisbee Park is located at 1902 N. Acacia Ave, Rialto, CA 92376

A few months ago I shared with you all that there will be a series of meetings in order for the community to express their ideas and concerns about this park.  During the month of January and February everyone that lives within 1 mile radius from Frisbie Park should’ve received a survey where you could’ve shared what you like to have in Frisbie Park for you and your family to enjoy in the future.  Unfortunately many of us that live within this 1 mile radius from Frisbie Park did not receive the survey.
The City Counsel is nearing the final stages of setting on paper what will be part of the final renovation project.  I was informed that there is many things being left out from this project, including the addition of Tennis Courts.  Today I got to speak with two city counsel members and I shared with them that Frisbie Park has the great potential of becoming a complete Community Park for everyone in the community, instead of just a park for Baseball and the Softball community.  Madame Mayor Deborah Robertson and Counsel member Andy Carrizales ask me to show up to the next city counsel meeting along with everyone in the Tennis Community to advocate to have tennis courts added into the renovation project.  However, they emphasized that the tennis community must show up and speak out for their tennis courts.
I will speak in front of the city counsel and I will talk about the following points.

1. We need a community park to the East of the City of Rialto (Frisbie Park is the perfect location)

(so far we have two community parks. One to the far North at Fergusson Park and one to the far South at Rialto City Park)

2. Our Tennis Community has grown in the past year from 5 kids in the tennis program to 50 kids.

(By the end of this year I’m projected to reach more than 100 kids to be in the tennis program. WE NEED MORE TENNIS COURTS)

3. Our Tennis Program is reaching mile stones. For the first time in many decades we have a team that was League Finalist.

4.  The USTA has grants to help the City of Rialto build tennis courts for our community.

City Council Meeting Items To Watch For

Yes today is yet another Council Meeting brought to you by the Rialto City Council. This new council session has not kicked off in a smooth manner. The first meeting of 2015 was kicked off by community members being skipped when they submitted intention to speak on given items, council member yell at community members when campaign contributions were brought into the conversation and transparency has gone from a goal to a joke among a majority of the seated council.

Set Public Hearing

D.2 is a public hearing to adopt another landscape and lighting district. We anticipate Mayor Robertson having to step aside on this one because she lives so close to one of the districts. Public Hearing will be held March 10th.

Miscellaneous

E.3 & E.4 are items having to do with the payments to the escrow accounts for the FAILED WATER DEAL of the Century. We have a team combing over past documents and have yet to get to these yet.

E.7 is yet more traveling requests that we doubt anyone but us are willing to question. Mr. Scott has been on council less than 3 months & has had travel requests on the agenda that have included him almost every single time. Also for some reason Mr. Scotts travel costs exceed the Mayors on this trip to Lake Arrowhead. The destination is only labeled as a City-County Conference and nothing else. What is most interesting is it looks like for this travel opportunity they will be going back in time. As you can see below it appears they are traveling from March 26th and going back to March 17th:

If they can’t fill out a simple form right should we trust them to speak on behalf of 100,000 people?

E.8 So it looks like the most expensive Jazz Fest to hit the IE is now requesting their Liquor license. The event online shows ZERO tickets sold and no performers slated to preform:

Now the city flyer shows lots of acts and old celebrities and a different general admission price so once again the right hand doesn’t know what the left is doing. I am not against music or raising money, what gets me is when a Neighborhood Watch Association wanted to bring a Skateboard event for local youth to their park the city shut them down and forced them to move it far away from their community. They did this under the guise that they could not use a majority of a public park for something other than its intended purpose. Last time I checked Frisbee Park was not a Concert Hall. Three quarters of the park is sports fields. So once again the rules only apply to the community but not the elected officials.

Tabs Unfinished Business

TAB 2 looks like the city wants to spend 1.3 million to expand the Metrolink station parking lot. Sounds like a lot to me but what I want to see happen tonight is the council send a message to the Contractor that their will be no last minute increases to the cost. As has happened with the In & Out retail pad and the Rails to Trails project we end up spending hundreds of Thousands of Dollars in last minute costs.

TAB 4-6 have to do with the Water & Waste Water Concession agreement for the last few months and the next six months.

We need to watch, engage and make our voices heard Rialto!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Being plugged in is very important to a healthy thriving community. Here at Rialto Now we are here to fill the gap that the print media leaves by not adequetly covering Rialto and to act as a education tool for the community.

This week is a busy week here in the city of Rialto. There are opportunities to get information from regular meetings and then we have some special meetings and events coming up this week. Here is a list of what’s going on this week:

Wednesday – Rialto’s Certified Farmers’ Market is held every Wednesday, 10:00 am – 2:00 pm. Farmers’ Market is located at City Hall where vendors sell a variety of fresh vegetables, fruits and nuts at a reasonable cost to consumers. Come out and see what our local growers have to offer.

Thursday – Mayor Deborah Robertson and City Council invite Rialto residents to attend the first community forum of 2015 on Thursday, January 29, 2015, from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. The meeting will be held in the City Hall Council Chambers located at 150 South Palm Ave. City Department Heads will be available to receive comments and answer questions from the residents. Mayor Robertson and City Council are looking forward to candid dialog with community members to help understand and take into consideration perspectives from residents as the City Council prepares for the 2015/2016 Fiscal Year. Mayor Robertson and the City Council understand the success of the City of Rialto is directly related to meeting the needs of our community. Saturday – On January 31, 2015, the City is hosting it’s first annual Rialto Police Officer Memorial 5K Run/Walk. This event takes place at the Rialto Police Department, 128 N. Willow Avenue, Rialto, CA on the south lawn. Sign ups begin at 7:00 am and the Race starts at 8:00 am. An awards ceremony and festivities will take place after the race. Ed Scott Lies On Campaign Mailer

So apparently the Ed Scott for City Council Campaign put out a last minute campaign piece claiming a few odd endorsements for his bid for another shot at a city council seat.

As you can see above the endorsement from Mayor Deborah Robertson stands out the most. Just two years ago the Ed Scott for Mayor campaign was using mailers against Deborah Robertson saying that she misused tax payers money and was double dipping with her pension from San Bag. It was a heated race and mud was throw back and fourth but in the end Mayor Robertson came out on top.

We reached out to Mayor Robertson via text message and she had this to say after seeing this mailer.

“I stated to all the candidates that I would not endorse anyone. I’m there to work with the other elected officials the voters in rialto send forward.” Mayor Deborah Robertson

 

 

We met up with Ed Scott at the woman’s club candidate forum at the Senior Center and asked him about it and he said Deborah was a supporter and that the mailer was printed wrong. He claims to have the proper original yet has not shown any such evidence.

Don’t worry Ed Scott wont just use the mayor has a false endorsement he has been doing the same thing with other local leaders like Mayor Pro Tem Ed Palmer. He turned his Ed Scott for Rialto Mayor page into Ed Scott for Rialto City Council. He does this without removing old pictures and he gives you the impression that he has a lot of support. No he does not have wide support and it dwindles more everyday as he tries to lie, cheat and steal his way back into office.

On another note it appears Joe Baca Jr. is sneaking his own endorsement mistake. In his sample ballot statement Joe Baca Jr. says he is endorsed by a list of community members. (See Below)

We have heard that one or more of these people were not asked to be included in this statement. We have not heard that they don’t support Joe Baca Jr. but some people would rather not be labeled publicly as supporting one side over the other.

So it all began with a post on his facebook page then the mailer, Ed Scott appears to be ok with using his son’s death to win the city council election.

First off let me be the first to say it’s been nice not having the bully of Rialto on city council. Heck he hasn’t even inserted himself into the area of politics since his departure almost 2 years ago when the voters choose Deborah Robertson for mayor over Ed Scott. He did pop his head out looking to seek the appointed position that was given to Lynn Hirtz but since then the only thing to come from him is sports and work at his bar.

Now let me reassure everyone that the School District, Rialto Police & Fire, City of Rialto & The Rialto Community Coalition have been working very hard to deal with this very issue. Now I’m not sure if this made a difference but once Ed Scott Was exited from local politics all of the walls began crashing down. The Rialto Community Coalition held its first public call to action event “Don’t Go There” at Eisenhower High School, City Council Members began to engage with our local prevention and advocacy programs, School District and Rialto City have found new innovative ways to begin working together. Heck even retail development came on like a flood starting with In & Out (pushed to completion by the community not city council). Now we have a Wing Stop, Jersey Mikes, Chipotle, Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf and Pieology coming to Rialto.

So were looking for your thoughts after everything that Ed Scott has put Rialto through are we really willing to give him a second chance to bully and take advantage of Rialto? I feel sorry for the Scott Family for their loss no parent should ever outlive their child but is that alone reason enough to give him elected power once again?

Hello Rialto Now Readers hos is everyone on this fine September day? Who went to Rialto’s Family Festival? Well we did and it was quite an amazing time 2nd only to National Night Out. There was literally something for everyone. There were 2 stages, over 50 vendors, kids fun zone, carnival style food court and police K9 demonstrations.

With the election so close this event was full of people looking for your vote in November. From Rialto Unified School Board, City Council, Community College Board and even congress the vote stumping was in full force. We were able to put together a nice collage for you of some of the VIP action at the event.

This event was full of cool and interesting vendors and they were spread wide and far. This event took over the entire Civic Center.

These were not all of the vendors but just a taste. It was an amazing afternoon of information, resources and fun! Our hats go off to the City Clerk’s Office for pulling this one off.

Mayor Robertson still had her massive mini tent with seating and tables but she added some healthy games and a map of the many different types of trees and their uses. It was interesting and we can only guess that this was an attempt to silence critics of her hospitality booth last year. Many questioned the need for it or why it wasn’t a joint effort with the entire council? I too wait for the day when we can pool resources and work together to make a great representation of our local government. Maybe next year, with that being said the mayor was very nice and hospitable.

Mayor Deborah Robertson invites Rialto residents to attend the first community forum of 2014 on Thursday, January 16, 2014, from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. The meeting will be held in the City Hall Council Chambers located at 150 South Palm Ave.

This is a opportunity to inform our city elected officials on what you see as important or a direction the city has been taking that you don’t agree with. This is your opportunity to plug in and become aware of the decisions being made on your behalf.

The Mayor and City Department Heads will be available to receive comments and answer questions from the residents. Mayor Robertson is looking forward to a candid dialog with community members to help understand and take into consideration perspectives from residents as the City Council plans for a second century of progress for Rialto. Mayor Robertson understands the success of the City of Rialto is directly related to meeting the needs of our community.
