Rialto Relay for Life event kicks off tomorrow with a Celebrity Guest

Below is a list of events and some of the awesome things in store for tomorrow. The local celebrity that can be seen in Rialto regularly showing off what is cool to do and see right here in our little town is pretty popular. The exact time for the local celebrity arrival with his ever so popular live video stream that is seen by hundreds of thousands of Facebook users hasn’t been announced but as soon as we find out you will know so stay tuned/

Join Joel Greene as he helps to kick off the Rialto Relay for Life event. This year the Rialto event is looking to raise $30 Thousand to combat cancer. If you would like to help them hit that mark you can donate any amount by clicking here.

Relay For Life is the signature fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. Relay is staffed and coordinated by volunteers in more than 5,200 communities and 27 countries. Volunteers give of their time and effort because they believe it’s time to take action against cancer.

Join us at these events to bring communities together to remember loved ones lost, honor survivors of all cancers, and raise money to help the American Cancer Society make a global impact on cancer.

Time: 9:00am

We’ll kick off the event by celebrating everyone who’s been affected by cancer. Whether someone’s been diagnosed for 10 days or been cancer-free for 10 years, they gather together for the crowd to cheer them on.

Survivors & Caregiver Lap

Time: 9:30am

Survivors define courage and inspire those facing a cancer diagnosis. Their strength is honored with each step they take around the first lap. If you know anyone who’s overcome cancer, invite them to join.

Caring for others is such a selfless act, which is why we honor caregivers with a lap. They often walk with the person they’ve supported.

Fight Back Ceremony

Time: 10:00am

Have you ever wanted to see a cement truck up close? Climb inside a cherry picker? Explorer a firetruck? Join us for a second annual Touch-A-Truck event.

Kids Corner sponsored by Target with games, crafts and activities for kids of all ages.

Be your own builder. Join us for a kids workshop sponsored by the Home Depot where kids can use tools to build their own creations.

Time: 4:00 pm

We will talk about what we can do beyond the event to fight back against this horrible disease.

Time: 9:00 pm

Each Luminaria bag represents a loved one lost to cancer, brings support to those affected by it, and honors survivors. This powerful moment gives people the opportunity to grieve but also offers hope and comfort.

Closing Ceremony

Time: 10:30 pm

We celebrate all that we’ve accomplished together and remember those we’ve lost. Together, we commit to take action and help end the pain and suffering of cancer.

ASSEMBLYMEMBER-ELECT CHERYL R. BROWN SAYS SMALL BUSINESS GROWTH AND JOB CREATION ARE NECESSARY IN THE 47THAD

In recognition of Small Business Saturday on November 24, Assemblymember-Elect Cheryl R. Brown (D-47) patronized small businesses located in the 47thAssembly District to encourage everyone to shop local and shop small.

“I’ve owned a small business for almost 40 years and I understand the challenges and sacrifices that business owners encounter daily. I deeply admire and respect the contributions that our small businesses make to the communities in our district,” said Brown.

Small Business Saturday has attracted millions of consumers nationwide since its formation in 2010. Small Business Saturday occurs annually between Black Friday and Cyber Monday and encourages the nation to celebrate their local businesses by “shopping small.”

“Reportedly, two-thirds of jobs in the 47th District are provided by small businesses,” said Brown. “And nationally for the last two decades small businesses have created two of every three jobs in the United States.”

Encouraging small business growth and job creation are among Brown’s top legislative priorities for 2013.

“Promoting small business growth and job creation is important to me because our district suffers from some of the highest unemployment rates in the state,” said Brown.“In many of our sectors, the unemployment rate has reached double digits. We have to look at how we can create more jobs and strengthen our local economy.”

“Government policies can pave the way for small businesses to thrive,” said Brown.

Assemblymember-Elect Brown represents the 47th Assembly District, which includes San Bernardino, Rialto, Colton, Bloomington, Fontana, and Grand Terrace.

Its so exciting how could it get any better?

How about a simple breakdown of each truck to get those taste buds watering!!!!!!

First truck is the “ZZ Truck” created by SIZZLER AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!

Below is an article from the Fast Food Mayven that breaks down this truck quite well. We have also included their social media links so you can let them know how excited you are that they are coming to RIALTO!!!!!

Sizzler is launching a food truck later this fall, but don’t expect Southern California’s latest restaurant-on-wheels to be an exact duplicate of its namesake chain.

For now, the Sizzler truck is being called “ZZ Truck” and will boast a menu of sliders, fries and ice cream sandwiches.

“ZZ Truck is Sizzler’s response to the local demands of quality unique gourmet cuisine available fast and simple,” the company said in a statement.

Starting later this month, Sizzler will host a naming contest for the new truck on Twitter and Facebook.

Fans can choose from the following names:

  • K.O.W. (Kitchen On Wheels)
  • The Steak Lab
  • Red, White, & Moo
  • Cruizzin’ Carnivore
  • Steak On It!

With the use of iPads to take orders, the truck promises fast delivery of its basic menu. Prices range from $1 to $10 for sliders, sides, toppings and desserts. The three sliders on the menu are Tri-Tip, Pulled Pork and French Dip.

The naming contest begins Oct. 10. Voting runs until Oct. 31, and all voters will be entered into a contest to win an iPod Touch.  For now, it is unclear where the Sizzler truck will roam when it launches in November. Stay tuned for more information.

Tell us: Do you think it is a smart idea for Sizzler to not use its recognizable brand on its new food truck?

Hale’iwa Shave Ice

Absolutely incredible! My taste buds were registering amazing flavors that were off the chart! I’ve never had Hawaiian style shaved ice and WOW nothing else will ever compare.

Their little trailer is pretty snazzy. Everyone needs to embrace technology and reap the benefits. iPads, flat screen TV’s, Bose sound system, custom video slideshows just shows you that they mean business.

…and then they back everything up with a killer product!

I made a mess in my pants after one taste. Happy endings for all! 🙂

Who wants some CHOCOLATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This “SPOTLIGHT” came from our outreach on Facebook and before being asked to do this interview I never even knew that this type of businesses existed. Sabrina Ruiz is the rep for Independent DOVE CHOCOLATE DISCOVERIES Chocolatier located here in Rialto.
RIALTO NOW – Sabrina, tell us a little about yourself. Did you grow up in Rialto? What’s your background and education? What prodded you to become a small business owner? Why Chocolate?
SABRINA RUIZ – My name is Sabrina Ruiz. I grew up in Ontario and  recently moved to Rialto two years ago. I attended Ontario Christian High School. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management and Master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix.  I am currently working on my Ph.D  in Organizational Management and Leadership thru Capella University. I have always had a desire to work for myself. I was laid off from my employer of seven years in late 2010. I wanted to produce an income that allowed me to have the flexibility to have time for my family and education .I have always been a Chocolate lover and baker; so of course when I had the opportunity to get paid to share Dove Chocolate I embraced it!
I have the unique ability to earn a full time income while still controlling my own hours, and life! I love the flexibility my Dove Chocolate Discoveries®. business allows me, I am able to always be there for my family and still support a wonderful lifestyle! It’s so much fun meeting my Hostesses and helping them throw great tasting parties that their guests LOVE while earning free products! Guests will learn more about how to entertain, give gifts, and make beautiful and delicious homemade treats.
RIALTO NOW – As an avid baker I do know that dove chocolate is very delicious. What has been your experience in introducing this product to people here in Rialto?
SABRINA RUIZ – I have had a few tasting parties at my home and locally in the area. Many people have not heard of Dove Chocolate Discoveries and were happy to come and sample some premium Dove Chocolate. Our Exclusive line of Dove Chocolate products include: Fabulous drinks, instant gratification, easy to prepare desserts, and professional candy making tools. SABRINA RUIZ – The struggles I had in the beginning were finding customers to purchase and host.
RIALTO NOW – What was your motivation on offering this product to our community? Where did you see the value in operating in and around Rialto?
SABRINA RUIZ – Small business in America has been the stabilizing force in the economy. Entrepreneurs are the backbone of creativity and production. Small business is what stimulates economic growth. I believe it is important to support your community that you live in. The City of Rialto is now my home and I want to contribute and support the community. Dove Chocolate is my vessel that I am using to bring business into the community.

SABRINA RUIZ – Some of the struggles of owning a small business that I have come across include: marketing expenses, supplies, and building new clientele
RIALTO NOW – Run us through a Chocolate Party. How do we schedule one? What goes on? Is it similar to Tupperware parties only yummier?
SABRINA RUIZ – We do use the same party plan format similar to Tupperware. Dove chocolate parties are so much fun! RIALTO NOW – If you could pass one nugget of inspiration to future small business owners in Rialto what would it be?
SABRINA RUIZ – Small businesses are job creators. The best advice I would give to small business owners is don’t give up. Personally I support small business Saturday and make an effort to habitually shop at small businesses.
RIALTO NOW – Does your business support any local charities or sports groups?
SABRINA RUIZ – At this time my business does not. My business was recently involved with the making strides for breast cancer walk/run.  I would love to support any of Rialto’s local charities or sports groups thru fundraising.

SABRINA RUIZ – Yes, I am currently holding interviews for Dove Chocolatiers. The only requirements for the job is a functioning mode of transportation, must be 18 or older, and purchase a chocolate kit which is $115 including shipping ($200 retail value). I am the only Chocolatier in Rialto and there is plenty of room for growth within the Inland Empire.
Everyone loves our parties; after all it revolves around DOVE chocolate! I also enjoy sharing this opportunity with others. I have been fortunate to grow a very successful team of wonderful individuals. It is my pleasure to support chocolatiers in growing their own business and attaining their personal goals!
